More on the idea:
Brief explanation:
Help-Portrait is a worldwide movement of photographers and volunteers to photograph and donate portraits of disadvantaged people. We say we don’t take photos, we give photos.
The idea of Help-Portrait is to create beautiful pictures of people who normally cannot afford a photo shoot. The goal is not a reportage photo (we all know those black and white photos of poor and miserable people) – the goal of our work is a beautiful photo of a beautiful person. The goal is that these people, many of whom have not been photographed properly in their entire lives, will receive a framed memory, a little care that they have not received in a long time, and a lot of smiles.
Usually the event includes make-up, hair, studio shooting, and often accompanying activities: music, refreshments etc, depending on the possibilities. Portraits are gifted to people already printed and framed – they are not published anywhere except with the permission of the “model” and are not used for any other purpose, not even for the photographer’s portfolio.
The initiative takes place worldwide and is open to both professional photographers and portrait photography enthusiasts, hairdressers and make-up artists, as well as any volunteers willing to get involved. Everyone can help when and how they want. We help with what we do best.
Every person is beautiful. Every photo is love.
